Do you ever do things that make other people remark about you?
Do people rave about you and tell others about you?
To be a remarkable person is to be someone worthy of notice, someone who is unusual, extraordinary or exceptional.
In contrast someone “ordinary” is a person who just does mundane, insignificant or everyday things.
What would you rather be known as – remarkable or ordinary?
Lately, I have been studying what makes some people stand out from others.
At the same time, I have been meeting some truly remarkable people.
Over the last three weekends, I have had the immense pleasure and honour of attending talks and workshops by Sadhguru Vasudev, Eckhart Tolle and Anil Gupta.
On a daily basis, I am honoured to follow the life changing and world impacting work of many remarkable blogger friends.
The question is what makes a person seem “remark-able” to us?
In the simplest terms, it’s when someone does something out of the ordinary i.e. someone who does extraordinary things. It’s someone who goes the extra mile and who touches us at a deeper level.
Simply by you doing remarkable things for yourself, ultimately those around you benefit too.
Doing remarkable things doesn’t always have to be about making a difference to others, though it does help.
The key is to stand out!
Do something different and take a stand for something that really, really matters to you, be it creating world peace or clearing the rubbish dump in your neighbourhood.
Go out there and make it happen.
Make a difference to yourself and others.
- Stop poisoning your body with junk food and alcohol – eat fresh, energising food and notice the difference
- Stop gossiping with others and instead share your innate wisdom.
- Stop wasting your time on TV and endless emails – get out there and do something remarkable.
Look for ways of helping your fellow human beings rather than fighting for your share of our limited resources.
I dare you to stand out from the crowd!
After all who are you to not let your light shine?
If nothing else, go for a walk or a run in your local park – do something remarkable for your body and your health.
Actually, let’s revisit that – what’s “remarkable” about doing something for your body? Surely you should be taking the best possible care of your body anyway?
Finally, be remarkable for the sake of being remarkable – and not because you want people to rave about you – even though that may well happen anyway.
What remarkable thing will you do today?
Editor’s note: – Talking of being remarkable, I am making some changes to my blog which I hope will make it more “remark-able”.
This Saturday is Indian New Year’s Day and all being well, the new design will go live then.
It’s an auspicious day for new beginnings and I would welcome your feedback. In line with the new design, I will also be bringing you more life changing articles, interviews with other remarkable people and guest posts from inspirational people.
Over the coming weeks and months, I will also be introducing my own new products and services to help you all become even more remarkable people in the world.
I am striving to make my blog remarkable so I can reach even more people. So this is what I would like from you – your valuable input about the direction for Make It Happen.

I think we are all naturally remark-able Arvind. But we repress this i order to fit in. One of the best things we can do is to express ourselves more and allow our unique personality to shine. Anyway, it’s easier said than done, I know from my own experience the kind of inner change this can require.
Yes Eduard, we certainly shy away from showing our remark-able side.
I would love to see you showing even more of your unique personality and expressing your uniqueness on the world stage:-)
Hi Arvind,
I just discovered your blog and love the posts you are writing so far. I say, just keep up what you are doing.
And you are right, many of us waste our time with useless activities that don’t serve anyone, or help accomplish our goals.
Welcome to my blog, Henway. Thanks for your many comments over the last few days:-)
You have hit it on the nail – we waste so much time on useless activities that don’t serve the world.
The key is to get clear what makes you remarkable and then go all out to make it happen!
Remarkable, starts within. Once we realize this, there is no way we can be stopped.
Absolutely Jonathan, being remarkable starts within, and once you realize this, you become unstoppable!
So Jonathan, what will make YOU unstoppable?!
You are remarkable as you are Arvind — especially when you express the remarkability that is wanting to come out of your soul!
I would love to see more of the remarkable YOU in your newest blog incarnation, and looking forward to seeing your new design live!
Congrats and may it be the happiest new year! Love
Satya, thanks so much for your kind words!
I promise to bring out more of my own remarkablility in my blog from now onwards – and perhaps you can hold me accountable to that pledge:-)
PS The new design is coming very soon
Good food for thought Arvind.
I will be remarkable today by choosing kindness when anger is the obvious first reaction.
Alex
Alex, always choose your kindness over your anger
But I do find it hard to believe that you ever get angrey:-)
I was musing along simliar lines during this morning’s walk. I spend a lot of time following paths that are not mainstream and it can be very isolating. This morning I was feeling like celebrating my differences – but I also know that fitting in is its own skill, and one I don’t possess!
So while celebrating being remarkable, I know that I’m also just following my own nature and inclinations so can’t take undue credit…
Jess, clearly great minds think alike:-)
Actually by following your own nature and inclinations, you are being remarkable! Not many people do so and perhaps it’s high time you acknowledged yourself more for what you are – someone remarkable!
Know that as you follow your own path, though it may feel isolating, you will get more people joining and taking notice of you.
It’s time to celebrate your differences – and your remarkability!
Hello Arvind,
This post made me think. How am I remarkable? Hmmm…
One way I can start is to listen more, I am a bit of a chatterbox, especially on the phone. But the person I need to listen to most of all, is myself…
Linda, I am sure you are remarkable in many ways.
Listen to the calling of your heart – and you will find that’s a great place to start.
Great post Arvind, I’m really impressed with your use of words here.
Being remarkable is about standing out. You have to separate yourself from the crowd mentality, because no-one in the crowd ever got remarkable by staying in the crowd 😉
I look forward to reading more Arvind. Take care 🙂
Thanks Stuart for your kind words – and welcome to my blog.
I love the distinction you make about standing out from the crowd rather that staying in the crowd.
I look forward to seeing you standing out from the crowd:-)
