I wrote recently about saving the copper beech tree in my garden.
I also wrote about about Sadhguru’s inspirational project to plant 114 million trees. As Sadhguru says:-
“Trees are our closest relationship. What they exhale, we inhale. What we exhale, they inhale. This is a constant relationship that nobody can afford to break or live without”
Sadhguru’s project is a wonderful and ambitious undertaking to plant over 100 million trees by 2010 in Tamil Nadu, the Indian state where Nirvana school is based.
I have just read a powerful quote from Sadhguru about trees:-
“Every society needs individuals who will go on planting mango trees, without thinking whether they will get to eat the fruits or not”.
So we can all plant trees today, even though we may not be around to taste the fruits.
I remember from my childhood how an aunt planted an apple sapling in her back garden over 20 years ago. We all laughed at the time at how and when such a tiny plant will one day yield apples for us. Well, we have all moved on from that house, but every now and then I drive past it and the sapling is now a huge apple tree!
We can also apply Sadhguru’s wisdom in our life in other ways – whatever good deed we do today can have massive and unforeseen positive implications tomorrow and beyond.
What trees will you plant today, knowing that you may not around tomorrow to taste the fruits?
What good deeds can you do today?
What positive projects can you start today, not knowing what impact your work will make on tomorrow’s world?
